A new podcast cometh

Submitted by Rick Eyre on December 31 2006, 8:15 pm

A new Net Sessions is on its way for the new year! I'm working on a review of the cricket year 2006.

If you want to have your say as part of the podcast, drop me a voicemail on Skype or Googletalk to rickeyre, or email me through my contact Rick page, or simply drop a comment on the end of this message.

I've only given 24 hours notice for these, my apologies, but if there is sufficient response I'll put together a follow-up podcast later on.

The Net Sessions, Episode 1.2 Re-archived

Submitted by Rick Eyre on December 2 2006, 1:17 pm

Episode two of the Net Sessions, first released August 19, 2005. Re-archived in my new blog structure and only available in Ogg Vorbis format.

There were eight episodes made up till January 2006 and they will be progressively re-loaded to this blog in the next few days.

I promise there will be a series two. If anyone wants to collaborate in Net Sessions 2.0, please contact me.

(Update July 2013: This episode of The Net Sessions is now available on Soundcloud as below. You may have noticed by now that there never was a series two.)

The Net Sessions, Episode 1.1 Re-archived

Attached is episode one from the first series of my cricket podcast, The Net Sessions. This audio was first released on August 5, 2005.

I am re-archiving the audios as part of my new blog structure, and in Ogg Vorbis format only. The former podcast feeds are in the process of being deprecated.

Another audio playlist

ABC Radio National's The Sports Factor recorded their show from the outer at the Gabba yesterday. The MP3 of this morning's half-hour program is part of the attached playlist. The Sports Factor's podcast feed is http://www.abc.net.au/rn/podcast/feeds/sportsf.xml and it's a program I recommend very highly.

Also on the playlist, I've linked to a few cricket stories from ABC Radio's news programs, AM,

Gabba Day 1 podcast playlist

Just over an hour of bedtime listening late last night for me, with MP3 audio summaries from the ABC, BBC, Guardian, Telegraph and CricInfo. The BBC, Guardian and Telegraph are all producing special daily podcast programs.

The ABC's Ashes podcast feed consists of a collection of four clips, being the stumps summary, two press conference interview and a radio highlights package. All of the ABC's material is also available for download from the Cricket Australia site (which does not have a podcast feed).

OK so where's the podcast?

I promised when The Net Sessions began that I would try to keep to a minimum of one podcast a month. I didn't do a podcast in February. Sorry.

Busy, and frankly, a bit uninspired. Some of it has already been recorded, including a response to some of the feedback I have received. So maybe I'll get around to post-production next week.

Sunny's first podcast

Submitted by Rick Eyre on January 14 2006, 11:24 pm

The first edition of Sunil Gavaskar's podcast "My Own Pitch" is up on Yahoo! India. It's a fairly dry summary of the first day's play of the Lahore Test. The podcast's web page is here if you want to download or subscribe. (If you're a Juice or Ipodder user, then this link should handle the subscription for you.)

The first edition runs for 2 minutes 43 seconds, but beware, it contains a loud background hum and seems to end abruptly.

Not quite the first, Sunny

For the first time in India, and perhaps in the cricketing world, podcasts will be available to cricket aficionados to download and listen to at their convenience.

Well no, Sunny won't be featuring in the cricketing world's first podcast, though he may well be the first leading player to appear in one.
