Parrott's spell-check goes on blink

Belford Parrott has an outstanding record of achievement as a man of letters. From his days as speechwriter to Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, to his current role as breakfast DJ on Sydney AM radio (that's AM the waveband, not AM the gong after his name), Parrott has regaled the nation's 55-plus demogaphic with his eloquence, his compassion and his Liberalism.

Parrott posts his daily op-eds to the Radio 2GB website every day, and indeed they are even podcast now. But who writes his transcripts? Presumably the text that appears on the website is taken directly from Belford's own notes...

It's a bit hard to deep-link within 2GB's website, because of the way it uses frames and uses scripts to try and enforce those frames. On Monday morning, Belford did a piece previewing the selection of the World team for the whisky supertest. In case you can't get to the source document, here's the transcript, exactly as it was writ on the website:

Well there is a lot of interest in this Rest of the World XI, which will be named tomorrow in Melbourne.

Richard Hadley will name the Rest of the World's Test and One-Day teams.

As I said, in Melbourne.

The historic Test will be played over six days at the Sydney Cricket Ground from October 14, following the appetisers - the three one-day games at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne on October 5, 7 and 9.

They are talking about a bowling attack of Flintoff, Harmison and Muralitheran and then a batting order boasting more than 100 Test hundreds.

Brian Lara, Satchen Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Then the all-rounders in Flintoff and Jacques Callus from South Africa.

So I suppose what they are saying is, if Australia can't beat England, what chance against this lot.

Daniel Vettori will be in there as well, the New Zealander.
Tickets are selling well.

Apparently the "house full" sign is likely to be erected for the first time outside the SCG since Steve Waugh's farewell Test.

Selection panel for the Rest of the World team is a who's who of cricket - Hadley, Sunil Gavaskar, Mike Atherton, Clive Lloyd, Aravinda de Silva, to name a few.

They have plenty to draw from.

But our blokes will be equal to that, surely.

Sir Richard Hadlee is not related to Belford's 2GB workmate Ray Hadley.

There's Jacques Kallis, not Callus, and who is this "Satchen" Tendulkar? A cross between Sachin (sash-in not satch-in) Tendulkar and Satchmo Armstrong? Alas, Belford's pronunciation of Satchen's name is not available on audio online.

Belford Parrott knows his sport well. Extremely well. Even so, I'll forgive him, however, on "Muralitheran".
