Victoria Bitter? No, that's just the advertising.

New South Wales defeated Victoria by an innings and 48 runs in two and a half days at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 14 February 2014. This was despite the best efforts of Glenn "The Big Show" Maxwell who scored 94 for the Vics in their first innings of 218.

Twitted assistor, Part Five: We're not gonna take it any more

For a variety of reasons I didn't do a normal cricket blog after Boxing Day 2009. I continued to pass comment on Twitter over the past month, however, and over the past few days I have been summarising, with annotations, my cricket-related tweets between December 27 and the present. Some tweets have been omitted for reasons of clarity or sanity, none have been internally edited.

"What I have seen in India is Bollywood, whereas we are more Under Milk Wood. If you compare the match we played against the Deccan Chargers the spectator experience was like an Elvis Presley concert. I think back to Twenty20 finals day at Edgbaston and it was like watching Des O'Connor."

There is no sport and no sporting competition in the world where a team can suddenly and unaccountably include a world record holder in their lineup for a Grand Final, when that player has not been part of the squad for any part of the tournament leading up to that final. No sport, that is, apart from the under-regulated, money-hungry sub-sport of Twenty20(TM) Cricket.

Twittering at the cricket

Yesterday I attended the SCG for a session and a half of Day Two of the New Zealand v New South Wales tour match. To my eternal regret, it has been almost three years since I have been to a NSW game (namely, the Twenty20 game against Queensland at the NSO in January 2006), so it was my first opportunity to try out some mobile blogging at the ground. Hence, my debut on Twitter.

Today's Pardon Me While My Brain Explodes story about NSW politics

If ever there was proof needed that the Large Hadron Collider is destabilising the remnants of New South Wales politics, comes today's email from ex-Health Minister Reba Meagher to Australian Associated Press, confirming that she made no attempt to inform Premier Rees on Saturday before telling the media of her intention to quit politics.

Said media outlet takes up the story.
